Flying car
Finally, the flying car is here.
The US Army's Defense Advanced Projects Agency has given the all-clear for the development of the Transformer - a four-person SUV that can take off and land anywhere, anytime.
And it wants it in operation by 2015, mainly because it's tired of its soldiers getting killed by IEDs.
The Transformer can fly right over the top of them - 3000m high, if required - around roadblocks and out of ambushes, according to Technewsdaily.
As well as all this, it's required to be able to take off and land without a pilot, handle small arms fire and be quickly adaptable to medical evacuation missions.
And it's a hybrid, so no worries about the environment.
The concept alone has drawn a $54 million budget out of The Pentagon's coffers, and DARPA say they'll have it on the ground in four years.
Unfortunately, it looks daft.
