LONDON - An 81-year-old British man, who found Internet fame with his video blog "geriatric1927," is competing online against celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay with his Web demonstration of how to cook a microwave meal.

Two weeks ago Ramsay, who has won Michelin stars and boasts top restaurants across the world, posted a short video on YouTube inviting people to appear on his new Cookalong Live TV show.

That inspired Peter Oakley to serve up a jokey reply titled Response to Cookalong the Geriatric Way.

In the video he tells viewers how to make "a most delightful chicken casserole" while swigging on a glass of white wine and popping a ready-prepared meal into the microwave.

"It's most important that you time it right because soggy vegetables are just the pits. Nobody likes soggy vegetables," he tells viewers.

Like his previous entries, it has proved a hit with YouTube fans. His entry has been viewed 68,274 times, almost as many as Ramsay's original which has amassed 70,266 hits.

"This is my kind of cooking ... none of this ramsey (sic)
and (Jamie) oliver rubbish," wrote one commentator.

People Behaving Badly

"There's nowt as queer as folk" said someone once in a suitably heavy rural British accent, no doubt with a wise shake of the head.
