Girl's udder despair as cowhide spreads

Doctors say there's nothing they can do to stop a Chinese girl turning into a cow. Except maybe operate.

Cowhide girl

A Chinese girl is turning into a cow.

Li Xiaoyuan was a normal six-year-old girl just a few months ago, until what doctors believe is a rare hereditary disease caught hold and caused hair to sprout and spread across her back.

Within months, Li's back was covered in a coarse growth that resembles cowhide.

The disease has spread to her arms and doctors fear they can't stop it.

The only explanation they can offer is that the disease affects moles on Li's back, causing them to grow and spread out of control.

"The poor girl - it breaks our hearts to see her suffer like this," mother Li Jiang told www.metro.co.uk.

Doctors fear if the growth is now too large to be treated with lasers and any attempt to remove it would result in a haemorrhage.

People Behaving Badly

"There's nowt as queer as folk" said someone once in a suitably heavy rural British accent, no doubt with a wise shake of the head.
