A GOLD skeleton has been found in a grave on the southern Greek island of Crete.
Archaeologist Nicholas Stampolidis says the grave was up to 2800 years old and held more than 3000 pieces of gold foil.
The pieces of foil, some up to four centimetres long, had been sewn onto garment covering the skeleton which had rotted away.
Mr Stampolidis said the find, near the ancient town of Eleutherna, was unique.
The grave also contained pottery, perfumes, beads and a gold pendant in the form of a bee goddess.
