Hoverboards are real

FRENCH artist unveils working design which could finally put dorky "where's my hoverboard" laments to bed.

It might be just a sculpture - Mr Guadagnin says its an "experiment in spatial autonomy" - but as the video shows, it hovers.

 

And that's enough for the most ardent Marty McFly devotees.

 

 

Mr Gaudagnin's hoverboard levitates on electromagnets and is stabilised by frickin' lasers.

 

It wobbles when prodded, and ducks up and down.

 

It's even pink, but unfortunately, it's unrideable - so far.

 

Part of the hoverboard's functionality comes from the plinth beneath it, so the first step towards hoverboarding to work in 2015 would be to get local governments to install electromagnetic wave-producing roads.

 

Or something.
