A TEENAGE heart transplant patient is in jail after plotting to cut another man's heart out.
And take his eyelids while he's at it.
A Washington County court has heard Andrew Busskohl, 19, received the transplant five years ago and, according to a psychological report, did not receive adequate counselling to deal with the fact he was carrying another person's heart in his chest.
"As a result of that Mr. Busskohl had some very bizarre thoughts that he acted on," attorney John Lucas said.
No kidding. After the surgery, Andrew told his family and friends he wanted to be a surgeon.
In August, he broke his neighbour's patio window and considered the deed.
He never actually entered the house, but police raided his home and found a backpack containing scissors, a scalpel, tweezers and - perhaps a sign that all was not well with Andrew - a map to his neighbour's house.
Andrew admitted he was considering the impromptu surgery.
He's been sentenced to three months' jail and ordered to undergo counselling before convincing the judge he should be allowed to rejoin society.
"I do understand that what I've done is wrong and extremely scary," he told the court.
Unsurprisingly, his neighbours are nervous about his release.
What he planned to do with the eyelids is anybody's guess.
