Author Stephenie Meyer, writer of the best-selling young adult Twilight books, has soared into the Forbes 2009 Celebrity 100 after an "astoundingly prolific year".

Meyer, the US author of vampire novels Twilight and its sequels New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, has been a teen lit favourite for several years, but it was the movie adaptaion of Twilight last year that saw her - and that of leading heartthrob Rob Pattison - star truly begin to rise.

At number 26 on the list, Forbes notes that 2008 was, for Meyer, an astoundingly prolific year. It refers to her as "low-profile."

Last year, she put the fifth and final installment in the series on hold in protest after a partial draft was posted on the Internet.
