Greenwich Witch

The world's most complete witch bottle has been found buried in Greenwich.

Witch bottle? Huh?

It basically means someone got his wife to urinate in a bottle, then threw in some hair, nail clippings and pins and waited for her to not be a witch anymore

Popular in the 16th and 17th century, witch bottles were also known to contain menstrual blood and bellybutton fluff, along with an assortment of sharp household stuff like hairpins and nails.

They're not altogether unique - some 200 have been found worldwide.

What makes this one different is it's unopened.

And as witch bottles were generally used to trap negative energy, those inquisitive about its contents were more inclined to avoid the traditional manner of peering inside, opting instead for a CT scan and chemical analysis.

Nicotine in the urine showed the guy's witchy wife was a smoker, and as the fingernails were in good condition, hadn't really worked too hard either.

It also included a piece of heart-shaped leather with a nail through it.

Despite the fact its owner was a nagging bourgeois fag hag, no negative energy has so far been recorded emanating from the bottle.

People Behaving Badly

"There's nowt as queer as folk" said someone once in a suitably heavy rural British accent, no doubt with a wise shake of the head.
